About Us

Anchorbar Spanish Stud was established in 1976 with the purchase of a property in the Roma, Queensland area.  Our first Stallion Dacio III (Imp) was purchased from Ray Williams of El Caballo Blanco, Sydney as a 3 year old.

We started breeding with crossbreds and foundation mares.  The first Spanish mare was Coplera (Imp).

Some of the bloodlines our horses carried over the years are Hortelano VII (Imp), Luisillo (Imp), Juguetono I, Bodeguero (Imp), Escribiente VI (Imp), Bizarro XI (Imp), Banbury Sanchez (Imp USA), Toledo, M.L. Jacara, Mayville Lodge Legado, Anchorbar Martelo, Alexandro II, Anchorbar Fornido and Anchorbar Jimbarella.

Choosing good quality and proven performance bloodlines, taking care with versatility, good nature and the classical type.  Our horses have been used in many different disciplines, including dressage, hacking, jumping, campdrafting, polo cross, harness as well as being very successful in Breed and Agricultural classes.  Worked for many years in the Roma sale yards with cattle, often 9 hour days, but the horses always enjoyed it.

In 1994 we moved the Stud to the Biddeston area on the Darling Downs near Toowoomba.  Today our stallions are Anchorbar Gallant, Sire: Anchorbar Fornido, Dam: Anchorbar Dalena and Valeroso B, Sire: Clasico-Mac, Spain (de'cd), Dam: Anchorbar Forcilla.  Clasico-Mac had a very successful show career, some awards include twice champion of Spain and twice champion movement, bred by the famous Cardanus Stud, Spain.  We have sold Horses to all States in Australia including Tasmania, exported to New Zealand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Our daughter Karen and her husband Matt are joining with us to continue breeding Spanish Horses into the future.

Horses are registered with A.H.A.A and P.R.E Mundial Register.
